Graduation ceremonies and thanksgiving services

Good morning,

Graduations have begun and the town is abuzz with students dressed in black and white scurrying to collect tickets, gowns and parents, then, after the ceremony, processing and being photographed endlessly.  “Get the whole chapel in behind me,” I overheard one brand new graduate say to their snapper.  Good advice.

Chapel services of thanksgiving continue – 9.30 am most days – but 8.30 am on Friday 17, Friday 24 and Monday 27 June.   There is plenty of room for all, including townspeople and visitors, regardless of faith or philosophy of life.  The choir are sounding magnificent, and deserve to be heard as they enhance our worship.

Speaking of worship, there is a special graduation service of Compline tonight, Wednesday 15 June, at 10 pm in St Leonard’s Chapel.  All welcome.  A sung service of night-prayer, and the last chance for some who have sung in St Leonard’s Chapel Choir to take part in Compline here.  I’ll be leading the service.  Note – tonight Wednesday, not the usual Thursday.

Finally, a joyful image from yesterday’s graduations, featuring six wonderful new Doctors of Philosophy in International Relations.  Congratulations!

Yours,

Donald.
