Step Count Challenge

Good evening,

It’s early July, and time to look back on eight weeks of the Step Count Challenge.  Your Chaplaincy team, the St Andrews Peregrinos, comprising students, chaplains and a Chaplaincy friend (and her dog) walked, swam, gardened and more throughout May and June, clocking up a hefty 3,625,303 steps.  Our highest stepper achieved over 800,000!  I was a close fifth (out of five) with a mere 661,343.  We were a creditable 142nd out of 834 teams nationwide, and eighth out of the University’s 39 entrants.  I think it’s fair to say we’re mildly smug at this top ten finish.

The point, of course, was not the competition but the taking part.  It’s so good to be active, outdoors, for health in body and mind, for exploring nature, and for celebrating the gift of activity.  It’s also an opportunity to meet people and share a bit of love.

Here are a few photographic highlights from our walking during the challenge…

Let me know if you’d like to be part of our team next time.

Yours,
Donald.
