Planting for the Planet

Good morning,

It’s a beautiful morning in St Andrews, and looks good for Planting for the Planet this afternoon!  Hope to see you for planting some crocus bulbs, and learning about gardens in different faiths and philosophies of life.

And if you want to go to Glasgow during Cop 26 to make your voice heard regarding climate change, then you are welcome to come with me on Saturday morning to take part in a march and rally (with speeches) organised by the Global Day for Climate Justice.  See https://cop26coalition.org/gda/  Within the gathering will be a Faiths and Beliefs Bloc.  We are gathering from 11.30 am in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow, then walking to another park (Glasgow Green) where there will be speeches.  It’s not an official part of Cop 26, but there are a lot of organisations from civil society promoting it.  It seems well-organised and family friendly.  It will all be outside in the open air, except for our travel on a public bus.  I am going with students and staff by Stagecoach bus, leaving St Andrews a little before 8 am.  Email me ([email protected]) if you’d like to come with us – currently there’s about 10 of us going together.

Our 11 am chapel service the following day, Sunday 7 November, will reflect the Cop 26 events.  I will be preaching on the Book of Ruth, which I’ve known from being a small child because of some wonderful murals by Alasdair Gray in my childhood church in Glasgow.  Here is a detail, of Naomi, Ruth and Orpah:

Yours,

Donald.
