Advent: 3 December
Good morning,
Behind today’s window are an image and haiku for Advent Sunday, the first day of Advent and the beginning of the Christian year. It is a day for anticipating of the coming of God’s kingdom, holy, good and loving. Traditional imagery sees the hope dramatically, sometimes as the burning away of all that is hostile to God. This morning’s service at St Salvator’s Chapel at 11 am is for both Advent and St Andrewstide. Our preacher is Prof Nina Laurie of the School of Geography and Sustainable Development, and her sermon title incorporates Advent hope and her own research in Peru – El Niño cometh. Music from St Salvator’s Chapel Choir, fresh from last night’s beautiful University Carol Service. All are welcome.
Today’s image is from Tallin in Estonia:
Sitting in darkness,
awaiting the light of dawn
from the wilderness
Yours,
Donald.
