Happy St Nicholas Day!
If you are someone from the lands where St Nicholas delivers gifts on the night of 5th/6th December, I hope that the boots you put outside your door last night were filled with good things.
In our Advent Calendar, our focus is not on the visit of St Nicholas, but of the Angel Gabriel to Mary. In the story, known as the Annunciation, Gabriel reveals to Mary that she will be the mother of God’s Son. It is depicted in this beautiful icon which I saw in the Onufri Iconographic Museum in Berat, Albania, last year.
From heaven he comes,
