Merry Christmas!

Our final window in this year’s Advent Calendar opens on to a Madonna and Child, one of many beautiful icons and paintings in churches and galleries around the world.  This lovely example is from the museum attached to St Tryphon’s Cathedral in Kotor, Montenegro.

A huge thank you to Natasha, our Chaplaincy intern this summer, who digitally tagged hundreds of photos helping me choose easily the images for the Calendar.

As for a haiku for Christmas Day, how about a poem in haiku-form of three words of 5, 7 and 5 syllables…

Incarnational
irreversibility –
congratulations!

Thank you to everyone who took part in yesterday’s services of Carols by Candlelight – Assistant Chaplain Sam Ferguson, organist Andrew Macintosh, janitor Tommy, ushers Elena, Lachlanina and Qunce, 12 readers, and three congregations who sang and joined in cheerfully, even when they didn’t get a seat.  One or two people asked for the talks mainly for children (A Strictly Christmas Special) and for grown-ups (Ding Dong Merrily on Haiku) so I’ve attached them here.

Finally, I’ll be taking the Christmas Day service in St Monans Church Hall, St Monans at 10 am this morning, among old friends.  All welcome.

I wish you a merry Christmas and a peaceful new year.

Yours,
Donald.
